So over the last couple of days I’ve been dedicating a lot of time doing research and hunting for things to improve my blog. I’ve decided that since I’ve put in some effort into the blog I probably could justify spending a little money on it to make it look more like something I’d like. In the meantime, if you’re lucky, you may see some of the changes in progress. Changing backgrounds, colours, images.
A Carys Update
Things around the house have been alright. Carys is getting herself ready for a world of crawling. She’s starting to lift herself and trying to get her knees under herself. She doesn’t seem too motivated to really move around though, yet. She’s able to roll over but she doesn’t really do it often. I have this strange idea that she’s just waiting until she can do it absolutely properly before she messes around with practicing. I think she might do the same with crawling and walking. She’s taking mental notes of how Jude does it and when she’s got it mastered in her mind, then she’ll attempt to do it.
Here’s a snippet of life. When Carys needs to nap, she gets quite cranky. It’s turning out that she only gets a quality nap when she’s being carried around by me. She needs a couple of hours of good sleep so she doesn’t turn into a grump. This usually means that I have to keep her in the baby wrap for most of the day. I generally don’t mind doing this, but I physically can’t, so often I have to put her down and she really doesn’t like that when she just wants to fall asleep. I’m currently working towards getting her to fall asleep on the bed so that I can leave while she naps. Sometimes this works, most of the time it doesn’t. The good thing is that I’m not sweating it like I did with Jude. I know that this won’t last for much longer anyways and at least she’s napping still!
A Jude Update
Jude is doing well too. Lately he’s discovered that he can turn the light on in his room. I don’t mind him doing this because usually he doesn’t. He was very happy and excited to show me that he had figured it out though. He also hit a milestone today. He was apparently hot or something so he took off his shirt completely by himself. When he got cold he wanted to put it back on again, and with some encouragement he managed to get it back on again without any help at all. He was pretty proud of that too. I’m also starting to suspect that it won’t be long before he decides that he doesn’t need to wear pull-ups any longer. He mentions the potty often now, and I try to encourage him to use it, but he’s still refusing. I think I’m realizing like many other things, he needs to do it when it’s on his terms and not ours.
